Omo Valley
Along the lower Omo River, some sixteen communities — Hamar, Mursi, Karo, Dassanech, Nyangatom and others — maintain distinct languages, dress and ceremony within a few hours' drive of one another. The valley is not a theme park; pace and access are set by invitation and market calendars.

Why We Go
Home to more distinct ethnic groups than almost anywhere else on the continent.
The pace here is set by invitation, not by us. We work through relationships with elders maintained over years, which means access is arranged in advance rather than negotiated at the roadside — no fee changes hands per photograph, ever. Market days at Key Afer, Dimeka and Turmi structure the week more honestly than a fixed village checklist.
A cultural mediator accompanies every visit, not only to translate but to make clear who is asking to enter a community's space, and to make a genuine "no" easy to give. Bull-jumping and other ceremonies happen when families hold them, not when a bus arrives; we build buffer days so a real invitation can be accepted.
June to September suits the south when the northern highlands are wet; December to March is the other reliable window. Between Arba Minch and the lower Omo, Dorze and Konso offer highland craft and UNESCO terraces without rushing straight to the river. We never sell "tribal photography" as a product — only travel that communities have agreed to host.
