Fly south to Arba Minch and spend six days in the southern Rift: a boat across Lake Chamo, the plains of Nechisar, the woven bamboo villages of the Dorze, and two days in the terraced, walled world of Konso. It connects naturally to our Omo Valley journey.

Day by Day
The itinerary, as it usually runs
A working draft rather than a fixed schedule — we move days around for weather, festivals and how you are feeling.
Day 1
Fly to Arba Minch
A morning flight south, the forty springs that give the town its name, and sunset over Lakes Abaya and Chamo from the ridge.
Day 2
Lake Chamo & Nechisar
A boat across Lake Chamo to the Crocodile Market, then the white-grass plains of Nechisar and the Bridge of God between the two lakes.
Day 3
The Dorze & the Gamo Highlands
Up to the cool highlands around Chencha to visit Dorze weavers and their tall woven bamboo houses, with lunch in a Dorze home.
Day 4
South to Konso
Down the Rift to Konso, 87 kilometres from Arba Minch, and an afternoon among the stone terraces.
Day 5
The walled villages
A walled Konso village with a local guide — its gates, meeting houses and generation poles — then the waka grave markers at the Konso Museum.
Day 6
Back to Addis Ababa
The drive back to Arba Minch and a flight to the capital — or onward into the Omo Valley.
