The itinerary, as it usually runs
A working draft rather than a fixed schedule — we move days around for weather, festivals and how you are feeling.
Day 1
East to Awash Falls
About 225 kilometres east from Addis Ababa, down into the Rift Valley, arriving at Awash Falls where the river drops into its gorge. A late-afternoon drive on the plains for the first oryx.
Day 2
Oryx, Fantale & Filwoha
A dawn game drive for beisa oryx, Soemmerring's gazelle and Salt's dik-dik, then the lava field of Fantale's 1820 eruption. The afternoon at the palm-fringed Filwoha hot springs, and dusk back at the falls.
Day 3
Back to Addis Ababa
A last early drive along the gorge, then the road west to the capital by mid-afternoon.
